Retail and e-commerce websites — stop renting your customers from a marketplace.

Before they ring

What shoppers check before buying from somewhere new

They have never heard of you and they are about to type their card details in. Every one of these is a reason to close the tab.

First

Is this a real business?

No address, no phone number, no reviews and stock photography. That combination reads as risky, and people abandon rather than risk it.

We fix it with real photos, a real address, visible reviews and everything a cautious buyer looks for before paying.
Second

What's the delivery going to cost me?

Hidden postage discovered at checkout is the single biggest reason baskets get abandoned. People want the number before they commit.

We fix it with delivery costs and timescales stated clearly on the product page, not sprung at the last step.
Third

What if it's wrong?

Returns, exchanges and how to reach a human. Buyers check this before ordering, not afterwards, and vagueness loses the sale.

We fix it with plain returns information and contact details somewhere obvious rather than buried in the footer.
What we build

What goes on a retail website

Built for shops moving online and for retailers replacing something that stopped working.

01
Product pages that rankEach product gets its own page, title and structured data, so Google can find it on its own.
02
Delivery configured properlyZones, weights, thresholds and click-and-collect, tested end to end before anyone can order.
03
Payments people trustCard, Apple Pay and Google Pay, set up in your own account with nothing marked up.
04
Buying guides that bring trafficThe pages that get found before somebody knows your name. Where most shops are invisible.
05
Trade and retail pricingTwo price lists in one shop, if you sell to both. Handled without a separate site.

The bit nobody says out loud

Every sale through a marketplace hands over a slice and the customer.

Etsy, eBay and Amazon are excellent at finding buyers and designed so you never keep them. Put in what you hand over each month and see what three years of it looks like.

Straight answer first

Do you need a shop, or a website?

Selling online costs more to build and more to run. Plenty of retailers we speak to need a good website with enquiry forms rather than a full shop, and we will say so.

Start here

£1,000 buys a proper website

Around fourteen pages showing your range, your shop, your story and how to reach you — without the cost of a full checkout.

  • ✓Most of your trade walks through the door
  • ✓Under ten products, or made to order
  • ✓You'd rather talk to people before they buy
  • ✓Nobody has time to pack and post
  • ✓You can add a shop later — nothing gets rebuilt
Or go further

£2,500 upwards buys a shop

Where selling online genuinely adds a revenue line rather than a headache.

  • ✓A range people can buy without asking
  • ✓You're already selling on a marketplace
  • ✓Your current shop is slow or losing people at checkout
  • ✓You want trade and retail pricing in one place
  • ✓You're tired of paying commission on every sale

Not sure which you are? Tell us what you sell and we'll say honestly — we have talked plenty of people out of shops they did not need.

Bespoke shops with large ranges or stock integration run from £8,000. Prices assume around fifteen pages — see what a bigger rebuild costs →

Bigger site?

Those prices assume about fifteen pages

Which is right for a new or small business. If you have been trading twenty years and built up sixty, eighty or a hundred pages, that is a different job and it deserves a proper quote rather than a package price.

✓We look at every existing page before quoting — some are worth keeping, plenty are not
✓Every old URL gets mapped and redirected so you keep your rankings
✓We have rebuilt hundred-page sites for around £8,000
✓Large jobs get more hands on them, not a longer timeline

After the website

What retailers usually add next

A shop nobody finds is an expensive catalogue. These bring people to it.

Nothing is bundled and nothing renews on its own. Add them when you want them, not before.

Questions

Retail web design questions, answered

Should I leave the marketplaces?

Usually not straight away. Keep them for discovery and build your own shop for margin and repeat business. Most retailers run both for a year or two, and the balance shifts naturally once their own traffic grows.

Shopify or WooCommerce?

Shopify for most: simpler to run, easier to configure, less to go wrong. WooCommerce if you already have WordPress your team knows, or need unusual pricing rules. We will recommend for your range rather than push our preference.

Can my team run it afterwards?

Yes, and we train them before launch with written guides for the jobs they will really do. If you would rather we ran it, we will — but it will never be because nobody showed you.

What about platform fees?

Shopify charge monthly plus a transaction cost, paid in your own account. WooCommerce is free but needs hosting. We never mark either up and never hold the account in our name.

My current shop is slow and nobody buys.

Send it over. If the theme is bloated and the checkout loses people on mobile, rebuilding usually costs less than patching. We will tell you which before you spend anything.

How long does a shop take?

Fifteen working days for a Starter, from when we have your product data and photos. Larger ranges take longer, mostly because product content takes time.
