Whiteski started nine years ago building sites for small businesses in the North West. Trades mostly, then restaurants, then anyone who asked. Every single client came from somebody else recommending us, which is a lovely way to grow and a terrible way to be found.
Along the way we learned the thing that actually matters, and it is not design. It is that a plumber in Preston and a plumber in Chorley are two different searches, and one page listing "the North West" will win neither. Most small business websites are one page pretending to be twelve.
So we stopped building pretty brochures and started building sites with a page for every service and every town. Then we made them fast, because a site that takes six seconds on a phone has already lost half the people who found it.
These days we build almost everything as fast static sites we host and manage ourselves — no WordPress, no plugins to update, nothing for you to log into and worry about. It is why a site costs £1,000 rather than £4,000, and why it loads in under half a second.
We are still small. You deal with the person building your site, start to finish, on WhatsApp. That is the bit we would never change.
