Whether it actually makes sense

Here is the arithmetic, using the prices published everywhere else on this site rather than a number invented for this page.

So it is not a finance deal with interest bolted on, and it is not cheaper by some trick either. It is about the same money, spread across the year.

If a lump sum is not a problem, buying outright is simpler. £1,000 or £1,500 once, £200 a year hosting, and that is the end of it. We would rather tell you that than sell you a plan you do not need.

Who pay monthly websites suit

• Newer businesses where £1,000 up front is the thing stopping them starting.
• Anyone who would rather a predictable monthly cost than a lump sum.
• Businesses that will keep adding — new services, new towns, new case studies — which is what the £200 plan’s monthly hour is for.

Who it does not suit

• Anyone who can pay up front and wants it left alone. Buy it outright.
• Anyone who cannot commit to twelve months. The minimum term is real, and we would rather you knew that now than in month four.

The terms, plainly

• £100 or £200 a month, for twelve months. More if the site is bigger than the plan covers; we tell you the number before you start.
• Twelve month minimum. After that the £100 plan becomes ordinary hosting at £200 a year, because the build is paid for. The £200 plan carries on monthly and you can stop with 30 days’ notice.
• Cancel inside the twelve months and the balance of the term is payable. That is what a minimum term means and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
• The site is yours. The domain is registered to you and always was, and the finished site and its content are yours once the minimum term is paid.
• The monthly hour does not roll up. Use it or lose it — otherwise it turns into a bank of work nobody can plan around.
