Construction · Extensions and conversions, Cheshire

Twenty years on the tools. None of it on the website.

An extension is one of the largest cheques a homeowner ever writes, and they hand it to whoever they trust most. This firm had the track record, the accreditations and the site signage to earn it. The website was the only part of the business that did not say so.

The brief

What the business needed

Hende Building Services build house extensions, loft conversions and garage conversions from Cheadle Hulme, across Cheshire and Greater Manchester. They have been at it for over twenty years, almost entirely on word of mouth and recommendation. The signage on their sites and their vans already looked like a firm you would trust with a six-figure build. The website did not, and it was the first thing a homeowner saw when a neighbour passed the name on.

The problem

What was wrong with what they had

×A journey that went nowhere. Nothing pointed a visitor towards making an enquiry, so a recommendation that arrived warm left cold.
×Nothing on brand. The site did not match the signage, the vans or the standard of the work, so it quietly undersold everything they had built.
×Heading tags and meta descriptions missing across the site, which is the groundwork Google reads before anything else.
×Services grouped together instead of given a page each, when extensions, loft conversions and garage conversions are three different searches and three different budgets.
×The team nowhere to be seen, on a purchase where people are choosing who to let into their home for months at a time.

What we built

Hende Building Services — the page as it is built
✓A separate page for each service — house extensions, loft conversions, garage conversions and design and build — so each one can rank and be sent to on its own.
✓A projects section with the recent builds added, because on this kind of work the photographs do most of the selling.
✓The team made visible, so a homeowner can see who would actually be on site.
✓Contact forms on every service page, wired up and tested before launch rather than after.
✓Heading structure and meta descriptions written across the site, filling in the groundwork that was missing.
✓A blog tidied and given a proper home, so the years of experience have somewhere to show rather than being claimed in a sentence.
✓Built in WordPress, so the team can add projects themselves without coming back to us for every change.
✓Google Analytics set up, the sitemap submitted to Search Console and hosting moved across, all done on launch rather than left as a loose end.

The result

What changed

19Enquiries since launch
Nearly 3×Previous periods
Aug 2026Live

Nineteen enquiries since going live in August 2026 — nearly three times as many as in previous periods. Counted to the end of September 2026. It is early, so we will keep adding to this as the months go by. Analytics and Search Console went on at launch, so the search figures will follow once there is enough history to show.

Afterwards

What they took on next

Hosting and care, with new projects added as they finish. The firm works across Cheshire and Greater Manchester, so the obvious next step is a page for the areas they actually travel to rather than one list of them.

That is usually the point of a build like this. The site is not the finish line — it is the thing everything else plugs into.
